What’s New for 2019
Welcome to our new and returning participants. We’ve planned another great event for you this year with some fresh and interesting activities.
New Novato Classic Distance Options
The 40K (25 miles) option is still available, but this year we are offering a 25K (15.5 miles) and 50K (31 miles) option as well. Register for the Novato Classic and then follow the easy to follow route directions according to which distance is appropriate for you on the day of the ride.
New Walk Format
This year, the Downtown Walking Adventure will start 9:30 am at the same time as the Family Ride. That way more of our participants can enjoy the firetruck escort and cheering section. Also, we are adding a costume contest for this year! Prizes will be awarded for
- Best family or group costume
- Best school spirit costume
- Best pet costume
- Best “May the Fourth Be With You” tribute to Star Wars Costume
Family Registration Changes
This year, we are continuing to simplify registration for family members who are riding together by identifying all the members of your group during registration. Each member of your family will have their own pre-printed wristband. The wrist bands will include your lunch ticket, and any special purchases like Inflatable Play Area Access. Youth registrations are at a reduced-price and include a child sized T-shirt and child’s meal. All Adult registrations include an adult meal. Additional shirts and lunches can be purchased in the store on this website.
New Fundraising Rewards
All participants will receive a gift bag and T-shirt. For fundraisers who earn at least $1,000, you will earn a special Champion for Novato Schools polo shirt. At the $500 level, you will earn a 2019 Tour of Novato top earner medal. All riders and walkers who fundraise will be entered in a raffle drawing for some special prizes. The prizes include merchandise and gift certificates, and the grand prize is a brand new Public bicycle from Mike’s Bikes! For every $50 you raise, you earn an additional ticket for this drawing.
Pre-Event Registration Pick-up
For those of you who want to skip the event day check-in lines, you can stop by the front of City Hall from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3 to pick up your packet early. City Hall is located at the intersection of Diablo Ave. and Sherman Ave. in downtown Novato right by the start/finish line for the Tour of Novato.
CycleBar Challenge
Back again this year is a great experience for those of you who either aren’t comfortable riding on the streets or can’t join us on Saturday. Our friends at CycleBar Novato in Hamilton are making their facility available on Sunday May 5th at 9:00 am for an indoor cycling challenge. More times may be available depending upon the interest in this option.
Stemple Creek Ranch Beef
We are excited to announce that the food choices this year will once again feature Stemple Creek Ranch locally raised, organic, all natural, grass-fed beef! Not a beef eater? Not to worry, there will be plenty of other options as well, including vegan options.
